We packed our bags and left the city this weekend. We got away from the heat and humidity and noise to the cool and quiet of the cottage.
Big blue skies, cold water, hot sun. The best possibly way to spend a weekend in my opinion. My family was here from England so there was much water skiing, wake boarding, board games and oh so much eating.
Water sports are something of a tradition in my family. We pretty much all spend half of our time at the cottage being dragged around by boats in the water. I’ve been water skiing since I was about 9 years old. It is truly one of my absolute favourite things. You almost feel like you’re flying when you’re cutting in and out of the wake at great speed.
As always the weekend went by much too quickly. I am already counting the days until we can escape the city again. Now that I’m home it’s time to sit down roll up my sleeves and answer all of the e-mails that piled up while I was away. Either that or make caramel cupcakes . . . we will see which impulse wins out in the end! Summer is half over and I am determined to soak up all of the summery sunshine I can before the leaves start changing colour, the wind starts picking up and I start humming Christmas carols under my breath. I love fall but I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to long days of sunshine, warm nights on patios and wearing sandals any and everywhere!
