Hot yoga is one of my very favourite ways to work out. In the bitterly cold winter we just had it gave me some warmth. When the warmer months come along I will admit I don’t go as regularly preferring to go for a run outside instead, but I still keep up my practise. Yoga keeps you flexible and strong, it also calms your mind and helps put you back in touch with yourself. It is also an incredible work out. After a hot yoga class I am in desperate need of some nutrients (and water!) to replenish my body.
Enter this delightful smoothie. It has protein, it has oats to fill you up, it tastes like a milkshake! It’s the perfect after yoga snack to fill you up and make you feel great.
It has a little bit of cinnamon, some soy milk, a great thick texture. If you aren’t allergic to peanuts then use peanut butter or whatever nut butter you prefer! If you are allergic like me I suggest the brand Wowbutter. It tastes fantastic and also works well in baking as a substitute for peanut butter. Spring is finally starting to show its face around these parts! And as it is Easter tomorrow this is going to be a short post, I have a vegan, gluten free, sugar free dessert to plan! The food sensitivities in my extended family seem to just be growing exponentially, the good news is it is forcing me to try recipes I would have shied away from previously. I will post with my results soon!
Soynut Butter Banana and Oatmeal Smoothie
1 cup soy milk
1 cup vanilla coconut or soy yogurt
1 cup oats
1/4 cup nut butter of your choice
1 tsp cinnamon
Enough ice to reach your desired consistency
Blend until smooth!
